Describe your style.
It’s important for us to blend in with your guests and the background in order to capture the most vivid and naturalistic photographs I can. I describe my style as a mix of 90% documentary and 10% portrait with a hint of editorial flare. This means that if you hate having your photograph taken then I am your perfect photographer! I’m looking to capture you and your guests in the most emotive and storytelling way which means minimal posing. Even the posed shots are captured in a way that feels organic and unstaged.
Do you use second photographers?
It really depends on your wedding day. For smaller weddings, I tend to shoot alone as I find this is more discrete and respectful of the vibe of a more intimate wedding. For weddings with over 100 people then I tend to recommend that I bring a second shooter. I work with a fantastic group of very talented photographers whose work matches mine stylistically and who have considerable experience shooting weddings. For larger weddings, I can provide a team of photographers, videographers, and assistants to suit the scale of your event.
How many Photographs will we get?
We like to provide at least 600 images from a full day, the more things that happen the more we get to capture.
How long will you be there?
My usual day is about 8-10 hours which takes you from at least an hour of preparation shots through to the first dancing.
Hours can be extended of course – please chat with me about your wedding plans to ensure that you get the coverage you need for your day.
Do you travel?
We charge a small travel expense beyond a 1.5hr drive for an overnight stay as it’s very difficult to drive a long way after filming a wedding for 8-12 hrs.
Mostly this charge is around £100 to cover a B&B, locations further than 2-3 hours will require 2 overnight stays. It all depends on the location and availability in the area of the wedding.
Can we meet up before the wedding day?
Of course although most of the time we are not able to travel far due to work commitments so we favour zoom calls so we can chat about your day without the travel time.
We offer pre-wedding shoots at a small cost when booking with us so you can get a feel of working with us too!
How long does it take to receive my photographs or film?
Our terms and conditions state 8-10 weeks a post-wedding day, we like to get them to you earlier if we can depending on the season and how busy we are.
How do we book?
Following that, there will be a contract for you to check and sign electronically.
20% deposit is required to secure your date with us, with the remainder 1 month before the wedding.
What happens on the day?
We like to start with your bridal and groom prep. to capture the day as it unfolds – this is a very important part of the film to later share with your other half and we usually cover 1-2 hours depending on location and timings of the day.
It is not always easy to capture both parties getting ready in separate locations when both parties are further than a 20-30 mins drive.
We then head over to the ceremony location where we would set up our cameras and sound equipment and capture the details of the venue when possible. We film the whole ceremony with at least 2-3 cameras to get different angles and perspectives. We need at least 30-mins to do this, the wedding ceremony is very important to us so this may mean we miss you getting into your wedding dress if the time is tight.
After the ceremony, when the couple’s photography session happens, as videographers, we like to document this and hopefully create some cinematic shots to complement your film.
Your dance will be captured again by at least 2 cameras and we like to make sure we film enough of your guests dancing and having fun before we finish.
We try to be as discreet as possible during your day, especially during emotional moments, we won’t ask you to repeat any key moments and let your day unfold as it should do, so you and your loved ones can enjoy the day and not feel overwhelmed by us.
Are you insured?
We have public liability and indemnity insurance of 5 million, as well as insured when we fly the drone.
Do you capture the sound of the day for my film?
We feel that sound is a very important part of your day, whether it’s your ceremony, the speeches or even kind and funny words spoken during the preparations. We like to integrate these words into your film along with background music.
We use a mix of lapel mics, external mics mounted on the cameras and sound recorders either plugged into the PA system or placed within the room to capture speeches, readings, etc.
What happens afterward?
After the excitement of your big day, we get started on backing up all of your footage on our server. This backup is a RAID system providing the backbone of our films. Then the magic happens when we craft your footage using our editing software.
We then start by syncing all the sound recorders with the footage and putting together the footage in a documentary film if required. Then comes the cinematic films which we use the best bits of the day.
The tough part is the music selection, as we can’t use commercial music on our films due to copyright law we use our licensed music libraries and try to find music that will fit both the day and the couple.
Going through footage from 2-3 cameras is very time-consuming, we like to pick out the best bits to show off your films to the best we possibly can. We usually share the films 8-10 weeks after the wedding day depending on the season.
Films will be shared digitally where you can view, download and back up.
How many photographers or videographers do I need?
We prefer to film all our weddings with 2 videographers to get the best coverage and cinematic shots to make your film more special.
Having multiple locations for the morning preparations is not feasible for one videographer so this is where two videographers will be very helpful to cover both parties.
Why do I need a videographer or photographer?
Photographs say a million words but video can show you that emotion and capture this memory in all its glory to cherish always.
We have some of the best modern equipment available to film weddings and we have the experience and knowledge to complement this to produce your wedding video that’s 100% better than your uncle filming it on their camcorder.
Do we choose the music for our films?
We prefer to use licensed music on our wedding films as this will be in line with Copyright laws UK & worldwide. We have a subscription to a very good quality licensed music supplier, we choose tracks we think will complement your wedding and offer a selection if needs be.
We appreciate our clients may wish to use commercial music for their films and were happy to discuss options for you.
What happens if the weather is bad and I want drone footage?
Our in-house licensed drone operator Paul is able to fly in good weather, if the weather turns wet or windy (even snow) we can’t fly.
If it is bad weather on the wedding day we will try our best to coordinate with the venue to capture the location in all its glory on a date after the wedding (if within 30 mins drive Harpenden). This is not always possible due to locations and our shooting schedule.
This obviously wouldn’t include the wedding party or a flight during your portrait session, but it will add an amazing cinematic feel to you
Are you legal to fly drones?
We are fully approved and fully insured to fly our drones. It’s a skill to operate and safety is a must.
CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) approved.
Drone filming adds a whole extra level of production value and there’s no better way to show off your wedding venue.
